Foster a Firework Friend this 4th of July

As we celebrate the Fourth of July and reflect on the values of freedom and independence, there’s no better time to consider giving a rescue dog their own independence.

But if you aren’t quite ready to adopt, consider giving these pups a taste of freedom through fostering! The Fourth of July can be a particularly difficult time for our rescue dogs due to the loud and frightening fireworks. Many dogs experience severe anxiety and fear during this time.

Fostering a “firework friend” just for a few days during this holiday can help them feel secure and calm in a loving environment away from the chaos. By opening your home, even temporarily, you provide these dogs with a much-needed sense of safety and comfort during this challenging period.

Why you should foster a pup for the 4th of July:

Reduces their Anxiety:

  • By fostering a scared pup during the fireworks, you can provide a quieter, safer space that can help reduce their anxiety and stress levels.

Prevents Runaways

  • More dogs get lost on July 4th than any other day of the year. Fostering them can keep them secure and prevent this risk of them escaping from the noise.

Gives them Special Attention

  • Fostering allows you to give the dog individual attention, comfort, and reassurance that they might not be able to receive at the rescue, given the amount of dogs.

Companionship

  • Your presence provides emotional support, reducing the dog’s feeling of isolation and fear during loud events.

Socialization

  • Fostering helps socialize the dog, making them more comfortable around people and other animals, which is crucial for their overall well-being and adoptability.

Increases Chances of Adoption

  • By providing a stable and loving environment, you help the dog overcome their

fears and anxieties, making them more appealing to potential adopters and increasing their chances of finding a forever home.

Are you Ready to Open Your Heart and Home to Foster?

The Big Dog Ranch Rescue (BDRR) rescues dogs from high-kill impounds, crowded shelters, puppy mills, and abusive and neglecting situations.

Many of these dogs will undergo euthanizing when not rescued.

Fostering a pet opens your home and heart to companionship with an animal that needs tender loving care. This will not cost you anything other than your time.
