Many of the dogs in the program come from Big Dog Ranch Rescue. "Well, first we have to get with Big Dog Ranch. And we usually select the dog from them.
We go through a process of temper testing the dog and making sure that the dog is viable and it's going to work for us," said the program's manager, Corporal Feaman, PBSO. "Go from a process of just in-house training to taking the dog out for more exposure, to environmental things. The mall, Palm Tran, bus stops, hospitals, wherever we think of that we're going to be deploying the dogs."
