Riki & Jerome Shaw Lead the Donor Pack at Big Dog Ranch Rescue
There’s no doubt that angels are watching over us at Big Dog Ranch Rescue and this month two of them made their presence known in a VERY BIG WAY! Ricki & Jerome Shaw recently donated $100,000 to Big Dog Ranch Rescue to build a quarantine kennel for our dogs. All of us at the Ranch are humbled, overwhelmed and and beyond grateful!
To give you a little background, a quarantine kennel is a very necessary stop for the dogs on their way into our shelter. They stay there when they first arrive so we can assess their temperament and health status. It helps keep the whole Ranch happy and healthy. Right now, our dogs are in an outdated kennel that we’ve retrofitted for the time being. Our property was originally the home of the Folke Peterson Wildlife Center, so while we are very grateful there were some buildings here for us to start with, they were originally meant for birds so they don’t really fit our needs. The new kennel will allow us to have air conditioning, air filtration and running water and it will be much easier to keep clean for our pups. It will also have a space for grooming and an area for our senior dogs.
The Shaw’s have been quietly but generously supporting Big Dog Ranch Rescue for the last couple of years. They are dedicated animal lovers and they certainly don’t mind getting their hands dirty for a good cause. Riki saves dogs from local shelters herself and before she even asks us to help find them a home, she makes sure they are happy, healthy and handsome. They are vetted, groomed and ready to go – all that’s left to do is connect them with their forever homes.
So we’d like to extend a big “Thank You” to the Shaw’s today. We are very excited that they are a part of the Big Dog Ranch Family and will go along for the ride as we improve our services and save more dogs’ lives each year. We will keep you informed of the progress and share photos along the way!

Thank you so much for what you do for the helpless pups in need. Many lives will be saved because of your generosity and caring. You are the best!
