Pets for Patriots

Big Dog Ranch Rescue is proud to partner with Pets for Patriots, an organization that connects homeless dogs with veterans and military personnel. The program is open to individuals from any branch of the United States military at any stage in their careers.

To get started, patriots can simply visit petsforpatriots.org to qualify and once approved you can make an appointment to visit Big Dog Ranch Rescue to meet honorably adoptable pets – a dog two years or older, a dog weighing more than 40 pounds regardless of age, or a special needs dog. Joining Pets for Patriots is entirely free to veterans, though you are responsible for a $50 adoption fee (which is normally $250). To reduce the chance that these pets are surrendered, Pets for Patriots sends a $150 gift card upon proof of eligible adoption to help with food and other essentials, and provides access to local veterinary partners who agree to offer ongoing discounted care.  All dogs have been spayed or neutered, microchipped and are up to date on their vaccinations.

Big Dog Ranch Rescue understands the positive impact dogs have on our lives so we are excited to help our military heroes find their perfect match and give these special pets a loving home.

Individuals must first apply through Pets for Patriots and provide proof of your military service or honorable discharge. Approval typically takes one to two business days, after which you can make an appointment to visit Big Dog Ranch Rescue for assistance in choosing your new best friend.
